Vacation in Architectural Monument combines heritage conservation and tourism. Historically valuable buildings are taken over, gently renovated and rented out as holiday flats. The model provides a double benefit: the monuments are given a revitalised future and the holiday guests experience a stay in an exceptional building. The idea is being realised by the ‘Vacation in Architectural Monument’ foundation, which was set up by the Swiss Heritage Society in 2005.
The holiday flat is located on the first floor of the station building. It consists of three bedrooms, a parlour, a dining room, a bathroom and a separate toilet. Two outdoor seating areas, one on the loggia and one in front of the house on the goods ramp, offer plenty of space for outdoor relaxation and a direct view of the passing trains.
It is imperative that attention is drawn to the danger zone of train traffic. The tracks may not be entered. The Rhaetian Railway, the Foundation ‘Ferien im Baudenkmal’ and the RhB World Heritage Association decline any liability towards the hirers. The electric overhead line is to be regarded as permanently energised. Great care must be taken near the tracks!
The Alvaneu RhB station is a historic building, a listed monument. Although it is technically equipped to modern standards, we would like to point out that certain functional details such as window and door openers, stair handrails and step heights do not comply with current standards and could be a potential source of danger.

Public transport: From Chur take the RhB to Tiefencastel or Filisur and change there to the bus to Alvaneu Bad, village centre. From the bus stop, a footpath leads along the Kirchweg to the railway station. Approx. 500 metres, 40 metres in altitude. (From December 2022, a new bus line will run every hour between Filisur station - Alvaneu station - Alvaneu village - Tiefencastel station.
Car park: There are five parking spaces marked P-tenant. Two of them belong to the holiday flat. You can drive to the railway station for loading and unloading
Outdoor area: Covered balcony, outdoor seating area on the goods ramp.

Stove / fireplace: Individual heating with wood firing (cylinder stove, fireplace stove, wood cooker)
